As the One Body of Christ, Holy Family Parish strives to live authentically the Gospel of Jesus Christ: through reflection on the Word, nourished by the Sacraments, in solidarity with our Church Shepherds and upholding and honouring the dignity and integrity of all of God’s creation.

Welcome to the Cathedral of the Holy Family - A Parish in Transition!

We have had several significant changes recently: new Mass times, new location, and a new phone number.

NEW MASS TIMES:

Our Sunday Mass times are: 9:00am, 11:30am, 6:30pm. We no longer have a Saturday evening Mass. As well, the 9:30am Mass has moved to 9:00am. Also see our Holiday Mass Times.

NEW LOCATION:

We have moved to our new church building, the Cathedral of the Holy Family. It is located at 123 Nelson Road (click on the address for a map), just off Attridge Drive and right beside St. Joseph High School. There are two accesses:

  1. Off Nelson Road: Going north from Attridge, turn left at the first traffic circle and follow the road as it wraps around St. Joseph HS. The cathedral will be on your right.
  2. Off Forestry Farm Park Drive: Going north from Attridge, take your first right and follow it down to the parking lots. Be aware that there are no traffic lights at this intersection. Turning left is very challenging at times. It is often simpler to use the Nelson Road entrance.

You can't miss it. It looks like this:

Please note that the new building is still under active construction. Many areas are still not accessible to the general public (or staff, for that matter). The main entrance is not accessible during the week, though it will be open for our weekend (Christmas) Masses.

NEW PHONE NUMBER:

Our new phone number is (306) 659-5800. We may be delayed returning calls due to the continued construction and our recent move. We appreciate your patience.

“You would have thought by now I would have at least lost a pound….”

*NOTE - This blog was posted by Linda Bobowski   “You would have thought by now I would have at least lost a pound….” I am sure the volunteers who answer our telephones have heard me say on more than one occasion as I am walking up the stairs. For anyone who is not familiar with our offices we are located, for about another 10 days, behind the rectory and beside the church. The type of structure use to be called a bi-level but I think the correct term is a split.

"I am the King of Patience...Sometimes"

It has always been my dream to see U2 live in concert.  I own many U2 concert DVDs, and every time I put one on – I envision myself in the audience (actually, I sometimes imagine I’m Bono) living the dream.

This past summer it finally came true for Tanya and I!

Living Strings

Note: This blog was posted by Fr. David:  So Christmas is coming, they say. It seems we have already been bombarded by multiple advertisements and I am sure that the stores are playing Christmas carols as the shoppers browse the stores for the perfect gifts. (As I have yet to go into a clothing or department store in the last few weeks I can only assume that they are playing holiday music) Everything today seems to be so busy that I can fail to truly enter into the spirit of the season.

A Visit With St. Max

[Note: This post was written by our foreign correspondent, Brandon Jean, currently on assignment in Japan.]

I visited Nagasaki City for a second time and I made sure to visit the St. Maximilian Kolbe Memorial Museum. St. Maximilian is a modern Saint and one of my favourites. He grew up in Poland (born in 1894) and was very devoted to Mary. One night as a child, Mary appeared to him holding two crowns: one red and one white. Mary told him that they represented purity and martyrdom and asked if he would accept one of them. St. Maximilian said that he would accept both!

Too Few and Far Between

My daughter Ava turned six this past weekend.  After her birth, every other person we met told us to cherish these moments because “Kids grow up far too quickly these days!”  I usually chuckled to myself when people said this, wondering how it is that kids are growing up too quickly these daysDid kids grow up more slowly in years gone by?

Saint Paul Would Approve

*Note: This blog was posted by Fr. David.  What a delight to have had the opportunity to travel with a group of parishioners to Greece and Turkey a few weeks ago. The tour was aptly named "In the Footsteps of St. Paul." We saw the ruins of the great places of Ephesus and Corinth, visited the cities of Athens and Thessaloniki, and walked the ground that Mary, the Mother of Jesus would have walked in her final days.

Highly Effective Church

Stephen Covey is one of my favourite authors.  I enjoy his work so much that I will be ordering a copy of his infamous “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” for each of our parish staff.
